Meaning. I propose to you nothing has meaning. It only has meaning to you, or me or whoever but in essence there is no meaning in anything. Whole civilizations have existed and disappeared. Their world had meaning to them now it doesn't even exist. One day we will not exist. What holds the meaning when no one exists? We need to believe that meaning exists. We need to know there is purpose. We want to live forever. We don't want to die without leaving something behind to be carried forward be someone else. We want to exist after we die. We need to believe but that doesn't make it so.  

It is a great cosmic joke.  You see a picture of someone one hundred years ago thinking about what they need to do and how what they do is important and then you realize the joke.  You are that person and you will be gone and forgotten or remembered for a while but not the way you really were.  You can't take yourself too seriously.
